October 28th: 2 weeks old!

Hard to believe it has been just two weeks since Sydney arrived.  She had her check up at the Pediatrician today and we are pleased to report that she is just under 6 pounds and now 20 inches long! She is above her birth weight which is what they want to see at this time.  Way to go!!!  All those hours of breastfeeding seem to be paying off and everything is looking good.  The nights are long but gazing into her big beautiful eyes and seeing her smile at us makes it all worth while.

This weekend we had our first outing...and yes, it was to brunch at the Cheesecake Factory, our favorite restaurant.  Sydney got a warm welcoming from the restaurant staff who have gotten to know us during our many visits and she slept through the entire meal!  We better enjoy this while we can since we love to go out for meals and it is not always going to be this easy with a little baby.

Daddy Jason loves hanging out with his little "wahoo" and his UVA football team won another game...Sydney is daddy's good luck charm and he can't wait until she can wear her cheerleader outfit and cheer on daddy's favorite team during a game in Charlottesville.  Thank you cousin Allison for the onesie!

Getting the hang of this...

Here are a few pictures from Sydney's first days at Holy Cross Hospital:

Our little peanut in the hospital...since it may be awhile before mommy gets to scrapbook again, she had made some signs to announce the new arrival of Baby Martin.  She is going to grow so fast that we want to capture her in the beginning and watch her get bigger and bigger.

Meeting some of the family for the first time...grandma, Sydney and Aunt Beth hanging out with mommy Jill as soon as we got settled into our room.  Nanny, Grandpa and Poppie were also there to greet the newest addition to the Martin family.  We loved all the visitors, phone calls and well wishes.

Hanging out in the recovery room with mommy and daddy.  This moment was so surreal...the C-section went well and parents and baby are doing great.  Sydney arrived at 1:25 pm on Tuesday October 14th.  It's been a long 39 weeks since this journey began but it was worth the wait!

Dinner the night before Sydney arrives at the Cheesecake Factory with Poppie, Grandma, Nanny, and Grandpa.  Hard to believe the big day is almost here and our baby girl will be welcomed into the world with so much love.

Mommy is going to have so much fun torturing Sydney with pictures.  It is so much easier to take the photos when she is sleeping since she is so active and doesn't like to be still.

There are a ton of random photos and I wish we could post them all but I'll have to narrow down to just a select few.  Thought this was a cute one for the first try....

Saturday October 25th

Sydney is 11 days old and we are attempting to start a blog to keep track of all the life and times of our precious little girl.  She has a smile that warms our hearts, a full head of hair that is sure to turn heads and is our dream come true.  We've been home from the hospital 1 week and are starting to settle into our new family life.  The challenges of sleep deprivation and feeding continue but Sydney is thriving and doing well.  Our hope is to keep family and friends updated and have a journal for Sydney to look back on as she grows up.

We could not be more thankful for all the outpouring of love and support that we have gotten from our friends and family.  Sydney is the luckiest little girl who is blessed with a wonderful family.  Both sets of grandparents have gone above and beyond to care for us and we are forever grateful.

Please be patient as both mommy and daddy aren't too proficient with the computer but we'll keep at this and share pictures as well in the near future.

Love,
Jill, Jason and Sydney
