Olivia and Kenzy

Its been so much fun to see how Olivia and her friend Kenzy (just one day older) are growing and changing every month. Finding the time to take these pictures is almost impossible but watching the girls really interact with each other was just adorable!

Memorial Day weekend

We enjoyed a quick overnight trip to Richmond with Nanny and Papa. They had a great children's museum that was perfect for Sydney and we all had fun!

family update

Boy--it sure is difficult finding the time to sit down in front of the computer and download pictures, etc. I can only partly blame it on computer problems...but the rest has to do with two very busy little girls and a lot of activity around here.

First i wanted to share with you about Sydney's scare a couple of weeks ago. After eating just ONE cashew nut, she had a severe allergic reaction which required us to go by ambulance to the ER for steroids and other medications. It was vehicle day at school so we had just been talking about ambulances so she handled it very well. I didn't take it as well when i was bathing Sydney to clean her up while sitting on the toilet nursing Olivia and on the phone with the doctor and they told me to call 911... but she was a real trooper and did an excellent job with the medicines and waiting. She loved her oatmeal baths and we are now the proud owners of EPI-pens and will go for further allergy testing in a couple of weeks to determine the extent of her allergies. All of this happened the DAY BEFORE our trip to Disney. Good thing the doctor told us it was the best time for us to go since the medicines stay in her body for awhile...

We had a fantastic trip to Disney (with the exception of a few toddler meltdown moments). 99% of the people we met fell completely in love with Olivia and her smile--she charmed all the characters, children and families with the exception of those sitting around us on the Southwest flight to Orlando (that other 1%). She showed off on the way back and slept the entire time in my arms (which i loved) and now we are not as nervous about our airplane trip to Chicago next week. Sydney is still talking about wanting to go back on the rides and go to Disney World. Good thing we already have the next trip booked for October--we are going on the Disney Cruise with our good friends Sally, Scott, Izzy and Charlie--can't wait!!!!! Both loved meeting all the Princesses and Disney friends...I only took about 573 pictures and have an extra 200+ on the photo pass...

Olivia is rolling all around and doing a much better job sitting up by herself although she still just loves to munch on her toes. Her hair has a few random curls and keeps changing color-sometimes brownish, other times red, but she just has the biggest and best smile and overall continues to be pure delight. She's not too crazy about her food but seems to really like carrots, mango and peaches (not so much the peas, squash, sweet potato and bland rice cereal).

Sydney continues to make us laugh and entertains us with her singing and dancing. The school year is coming to an end and I marvel at how much she has grown and changed. She is so bright and amazes us with the attention to details that she remembers and the advanced associations she makes. She loves to recognize things that match and takes it to the extremes--wanting to pick a red flower because she is wearing red shirt (with matching red socks) because red is her favorite color...She really does think she knows everything and challenges me with her stubborn side but gives the best hugs and kisses and is so wonderful with her little sister.

Lots of pictures to go through and hopefully I'll post a few soon for those dedicated followers of the blog and those still reading after all my ranting.

xoxo,
Jill, Jason, Sydney and Olivia

Disney World May 2011 day 1

What can we say...we are completely addicted to Disney! We had a magical trip to Disney World. Doctor said it was the perfect time to go since Sydney was well protected with all the medications following her allergic reaction and well, Jason and I don't really need an excuse to go to Orlando. Sydney did well on the plane (thank you Ipad2!) and loved her trundle bed at Port Orleans Riverside resort. Here are some highlights from our first day at the Magic Kingdom in no particular order:

no fears

This past weekend Sydney had a blast at Zachary's 4th birthday party. Running, jumping, bouncing, zip lining--Sydney does it all. Jason and I are still recovering from chasing her all over the gym!

Our little cutie at Celebrate Mama in downtown Bethesda...enjoying the Little Maestros Kidville street performance...

Happy Mother's Day!

Mother's Day 2011!

Jason and I figure we get 5 days a year that are dedicated to us...our birthdays, mother and fathers day and our anniversary. Of course each and every day is about the kids and this year I am celebrating that I am mother to the 2 best children-Sydney and Olivia.

We also want to wish our mothers, Lin & Barbara, plus Grandma Juliet, a very Happy Mother's Day. We love you!

This was my mother's day present that Sydney made at school...but truly the best gifts I've ever gotten were Sydney & Olivia : )

Olivia's baby naming

Last weekend we celebrate as Olivia was given her Hebrew name, Miriam Michal, in memory/honor of my 2 grandmothers Marian and Muriel and Jason's grandfather Morris. The Rabbi did a wonderful job with personalizing the ceremony and made it so meaningful--the tears of happiness were overflowing. Such a perfect day shared with family and friends.

Thank you to Uncle Neil for the pictures since I was preoccupied and did not have my camera the entire time! Just wanted to post a few family pictures and maybe will get to post more another time...

Special thank you to Aunt Janice for coming all the way from California...I know she enjoyed visiting with all of us!
